Inner Healing & Freedom Workshop in review
Inner Healing & Freedom Workshop – A Day of Breakthrough
We had the joy of hosting our Inner Healing and Freedom Workshop, and it was a powerful day of teaching, encounter, and breakthrough. Many people came hungry to understand how God heals the deeper places of the heart, and we spent the day exploring four key areas that often keep believers from walking in the fullness of the freedom that Jesus has already purchased for us. Jesus said in John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Our desire for the day was simple: to help people step more fully into that freedom.
1. Generational Sin, Shame, Fear and Control
We began by looking at the reality of generational patterns and how sin and brokenness can sometimes run through family lines. Scripture speaks about this dynamic in passages such as Exodus 20:5–6, but the good news is that through the cross, Jesus has made a way for freedom. We walked through practical prayers to renounce generational patterns and break agreement with them. Many people recognised familiar struggles in their own families—particularly around shame, fear, and control—and were given tools to dismantle these strongholds. As 2 Corinthians 10:4–5 reminds us, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world… they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” Through prayer and truth, we saw people begin to do exactly that. One person shared afterwards that they realised how strongly control had shaped their life and relationships. During the day they recognised that this pattern had been inherited through family dynamics. As they handed control back to the Holy Spirit, they experienced a real sense of freedom and peace.
This is a common stronghold that many come under - this was an unholy trinity formed just after Adam and Eve ate the fruit in Gen 3:8-10 “The Lord God called to the man, and said to him, ‘Where are you?’ Adam said, I heard the sound of you in the garden and I was afraid (fear) because I was naked (shame); so, I hid myself (control).”
2. Transforming the Mind
We then moved into an incredibly practical session on renewing the mind. Jesus said of the enemy in John 8:44 that he is “the father of lies.” Many of the struggles people face begin when we unknowingly partner with lies about ourselves, about others, or about God. During this session, people identified specific lies they had believed and were guided through a process of replacing those lies with truth from Scripture and the voice of the Holy Spirit. Jesus declared in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life,” and when truth replaces lies, transformation begins. We also taught a simple but powerful practice: meditating on truth for 30 days.(Switch on your brain: Dr Caroline Leaf) As Romans 12:2 says, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” When we continually fill our minds with God’s truth, the inner landscape of our thinking begins to change.
3. Healing Hurts and Trauma
The third area we explored was soul and spirit wounds—the hurts and trauma that many people carry. Scripture invites us to bring our pain to Jesus. Psalm 62:8 says, “Pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.” During this session we created space for people to encounter Jesus personally, bringing their pain to Him at the foot of the cross. Time and again we see that when people honestly pour out their hearts to Jesus, He meets them with healing. Psalm 147:3 reminds us that “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” For many in the room, this was a deeply moving moment as Jesus ministered to places of pain that had been carried for years.
4. Freedom from Demonic Oppression
Finally, we addressed the reality of demonic oppression and how believers can walk in freedom. Throughout the Gospels we see Jesus regularly setting people free, and He commissioned His followers to do the same. As Mark 16:17 says, “These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons.” We talked about how oppression often manifests through things like shame, fear, or control, and we led people through prayers of renunciation and freedom. Several people experienced real breakthrough as these oppressive influences were commanded to leave in Jesus’ name. The day ended with worship and prayer, inviting people to be filled afresh with the presence of God, because freedom is not just about what we are set free from—it’s about being filled with the life of the Spirit.
A New Understanding of How Freedom Works
Many who attended shared that the workshop gave them a completely new understanding of how the spiritual realm, the mind, and the soul interact. More importantly, they left with practical tools they can use not only in their own lives but also when helping others find freedom. We also provided resource cards during the day—simple guides that help people minister freedom and inner healing. These have now been made available through our website so that people can continue to practise these tools at home and when ministering to others.
Coming Next: Freedom & Deliverance Workshop
Our next workshop will be Freedom & Deliverance, where we will explore two common spiritual dynamics that often affect believers: the orphan spirit and the religious spirit.
During this day we will:
• Explore the theology of deliverance, looking at how different Christian traditions understand it
• Examine how these particular spiritual influences affect identity and relationship with God
• Provide practical training on how to minister deliverance well
• Discuss how churches can build healthy deliverance teams
• And most importantly, create space to practice ministry together so people leave equipped and confident.
If you are hungry to see people set free and to grow in confidence in ministering healing and deliverance, this workshop will be a powerful next step.
We’d love you to join us.
